Jackal in Connaught Place
New Delhi: Oct, 24: In a hair- rising incident, a jackal managed to sneak inside the park located at the backside of the Rivoli Theater near the busy intersection in Connaught Place area o New Delhi district. However, the Wildlife Authorise trapped the jackal after they received a call.
A call was received by the Wildlife authorities trapped the jackal had been spotted in the park at around 5.30in the evening,” We received a call that a jackal had been spotted. It is a wild animal and comes under Schedule I spices under the Wildlife protection Act 1972.
While we reached there we found that it is a sub-adult male,” said a Wildlife official .An NGO namely Wildlife SOS also called for help in rescuing the animal.
“To our surprise people were not able to identify the jackal for a few hours as it resembles the domestic German shepherd breed of dog. Later few of them noticed that it was trying to hide in the side park’s bushes which a normal dog would not do,” said a wildlife official.
As soon as it was established that it was a jackal, Wildlife authorities as well as the police were called in to rescue it.” it’s brown in colour and was rescued with out much problem. It must have sneaked from the nearby ridge area to the park. but it’s surprising that it managed to cross many busy intersection of the Connaught Place and was trying to hide him in crowded areas,” stated the Wildlife official.
Four wildlife inspectors and four activist of Wildlife SOS rescued the animal and was later taken to the Asola Bhatti wildlife sanctuary and was released after few hours.
Yesterday also, a sambar was rescued by the authorities from a container depot in Badarpur area of south Delhi.
