Prerna
Salim Miya owned Prerna who is a relatively young bear and kept her better fed than the others in his village. Prerna has a magnificent coat of long hair and is a natural beauty who knows she can charm every visitor and the keepers. Her claws are unusually long and curved but thankfully she has a docile temperament and does everything slowly and majestically. It is no wonder our field worker and manager at the Bhopal Rescue facility decided to give her the name “Prerna” after herself. Prerna has had her nose ropes removed and except for the broken canines and root canal surgery that will be needed later she has no serious muzzle injuries. She has started her tonics for liver toning and vitamin therapy and the prophylactic treatment against tuberculosis. Prerna is the reason why we started this rescue centre that bears like her should have a chance to lead healthy and relatively free lives in as close to natural surroundings as possible.
